Teach Us to Pray, Part 2
January 12, 2025Teach Us to Pray, Part 2
Luke 11:5-13
“Teach us to pray…”
The greatest gift you can give others is a growing relationship with Jesus through a deep life of prayer.
When Jesus wants to describe our relationship with God in prayer, He uses the image of a loving Father and his child.
- Pray like your prayers matter.
God gives many good gifts because of His kindness, but according to Jesus, some gifts are reserved for those who ask.
Things change when people pray. Prayer changes reality.
Just because we don’t see the difference your prayers are making does not mean they’re not making a difference.
- Trust that God is a good Father.
Jesus was convinced God was a good Father who gives good gifts. Which means…
If the gift isn’t good, it’s not from God.
How do you know if you trust that God is a good Father?
You ask, seek, and knock.
Helplessness becomes prayer the moment you turn to God.
We bring God what is in us, not what ought to be in us.
What’s going to make us people of prayer is not insight but practice.
God is the gift.
