“Anger is a LEGITIMATE emotion that is often expressed ILLEGITIMATELY.”
“Much of what we get angry about is not JUSTIFIABLE righteous anger; it is wrong anger that we try to JUSTIFY.”
2 Truths About Anger:

1. Anger is a HEART Problem.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’  But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the court; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the fire of hell.”        Matthew 5:21-22

“Don’t be quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger abides in the heart of fools.” Ecclesiastes 7:9
2. Anger is a HURT Problem.

  • Our Anger Hurts OTHERS
  • Our Anger Hurts US
  • Our Anger Hurts Our Relationship With GOD

3 Biblical Ways to Victory over Anger in Our Lives:

1. Deal with it CORRECTLY.

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24

“In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:26

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,  because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” James 1:19-20

2. Commit to CONTROLLING it.

“Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise keep themselves under control.” Proverbs 29:11

“Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.” Proverbs 16:32

3. Remember the RESULTS of it.

“An angry person stirs up conflict, and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.” Proverbs 29:22

“A quick-tempered person does many foolish things.” Proverbs 14:17

“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays foolishness.” Proverbs 14:29
