When we come to understand just how desperate we are FOR God’s grace and mercy; we then come to understand just how blessed we are BECAUSE of His grace and mercy…

“Blessed are those who MOURN, for they WILL BE COMFORTED.” Matthew 5:4

The purpose of this kind of mourning is not to lead us to MISERY; the purpose of this kind of mourning is to lead us to REPENTANCE because on the other side of our repentance is where we experience God’s COMFORT through His grace, through His mercy and through His forgiveness.

“Blessed are the MEEK, for they will INHERIT THE EARTH.” Matthew 5:5

“meekness” (Praos) – POWER under CONTROL

“Blessed are those who HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, for they SHALL BE SATISFIED.” Matthew 5:6

Righteousness simply means being in proper RELATIONSHIP with God and LIVING in the ways of God…

“Blessed are the MERCIFUL, for they will be shown MERCY.” Matthew 5:7

Biblical Mercy is: Genuine COMPASSION that is expressed in genuine ACTION…

“Blessed are the PURE IN HEART, for they WILL SEE GOD.” Matthew 5:8

“Pure in Heart” means to be a person of INTEGRITY…

“Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS, for they will be called CHILDREN OF GOD.” Matthew 5:9

A Peacemaker is not a PACIFIST; a peacemaker is someone who purposefully PURSUES peace by reflecting the heart of God that is why they are called Children of God….

“Blessed are those WHO ARE PERSECUTED BECAUSE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, for theirs is the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. “Blessed are you when people INSULT YOU, PERSECUTE YOU AND FALSELY SAY ALL KINDS OF EVIL AGAINST YOU BECAUSE OF ME. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:10-12

Any persecution or opposition we may face HERE IN THIS LIFE will pale in comparison to the rewards we will receive in HEAVEN!
