In God We Trust

“In GOD We Trust”

Psalm 33, Habakkuk 3:17-19

If God has indeed blessed America, we must ask: WHY? The answer is written in front of us. We see it nearly every day on our currency and coins:

“IN GOD WE TRUST”

That is our foundation!  HE is our foundation!

The US was founded on JUDEO – CHRISTIAN principles for all the right reasons.

• 1620: the Mayflower Compact said, “Having undertaken for the glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith…do solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God covenant together…”
• 1638: the first college, HARVARD University, was founded. The college set the purpose of all education in their founding document: “Let every student be plainly instructed and consider well that the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life…”
• 1773: the Sons of Liberty (Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere, Patrick Henry, etc.) set the stage for the issue of Declaration of Independence.
• 1776: Upon the signing of the declaration, a bell in the state house (Independence Hall) was rung; engraved on that bell was written Leviticus 25:10 — “proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants.”

The US is still great today because the BIBLE is built into the very fiber and DNA of our existence!

• Most of our historical buildings and monuments in the US capitol, and state capital buildings have Biblical images and artwork in their architecture.
• Biblical quotations are inscribed into countless monuments, documents, and memorials; the 10 Commandments displayed all over.
• The preambles for 45 states give praise to God.
• The official national motto for the United States is: IN GOD WE TRUST. This is proclaimed on every currency and coin!

Psalm 33 reminds that, like Israel, in America –

We must remember our PAST:

• Our protection. 13-17
• Our provision. 18-19

We must consider our PATH:

• Our preservation. 20-21
• Our purpose. 4-12

We have forgotten that with great PRIVILEGE comes great RESPONSIBILITY.

TRUTH 1: Our hope is NOT in one NATION; our hope is in one PERSON: Jesus Christ. 

TRUTH 2:  There are no hopeless SITUATIONS;  There are only hopeless PEOPLE.
