Meekness (Praos) means: Power under Control

 3 truths about biblical meekness:

1. Meekness is a choice.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience.”  Colossians 3:12

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”  Philippians 2:3

He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross”  Philippians 2:8

2. Meekness Means Living Beyond Ourselves.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:3-4

“He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.”   Philippians 2:7

 3. Meekness Opens the Door for God’s blessing!

“But the meek will inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.”   Psalm 37:11

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”     Matthew 23:12

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”  James 4:10

“But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble.”    James 4:6
