Summer in the Psalms

July 10, 2022 / Cody Jenkins

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!    Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

God is God.
Run to Him.

God is eternal.

Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or every you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.   Psalm 90:1-2 (ESV)

We are not.

You sweep them away as with a flood, they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning: in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers. For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed. You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh.  Psalm 90:5-9 (ESV)

God is faithful.

Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants! Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love that we may rejoice and be glad all of our days.   Psalm 90:13-14 (ESV)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

It’s our role to teach these truths
and pass them down.

Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!  Psalm 90:16-17 (ESV)

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on doorposts of your house and on your gates.  Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (ESV)

God is eternal.
We are not.
God is faithful.
Run to Him.
Pass it down.
