Jesus Changes Everything (Part 1)
2 Corinthians 5:17
How can we expect to change the world for Christ if we ourselves are not being changed by Him? —Peter Scazzero
Main Thing to Know:
If Jesus changes anything, He changes everything
1. Jesus Changes Who I Am
Too often, we allow:
Wrong moments to define us
Wrong people to define us
Your Identity in Christ:
• You are chosen
• You are adopted
• You are accepted
• You are forgiven
• You are redeemed
2. Jesus Changes What I Live For
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21)
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
Personal Application:
My “Who” determines my “Why”
I said to myself, “Come on, let’s try pleasure . . . the ‘good things’ in life.” . . . I tried to find meaning by building huge homes for myself and by planting beautiful vineyards. I made gardens and parks . . . I built reservoirs to collect the water to irrigate my many flourishing groves. . . . I collected great sums of silver and gold . . . I had everything a man could desire! So I became greater than all who had lived . . . before me . . . anything I wanted, I would take. I denied myself no pleasure. . . . but as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:1-11)
My “Who” determines my “Why”
