The Story:
The Christ Connection:
Boaz: Kinsman Redeemer
Jesus: Eternal Redeemer
When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem
those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. (Galatians 4:4-5)
• Jesus was born at the right time
“fullness of time” = appointed time; proper time
• Jesus was born in the right way
Born of a woman: He was able to die
Born under the law: He was qualified to die
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son . . . that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled . . . (Romans 8:3-4)
• Jesus was born for the right reason
Hail, the heav’n-born Prince of peace. Hail, the Sun of Righteousness
Light and life to all he brings; Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by; Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth; Born to give them second birth
Hark! the herald angels sing; Glory to the newborn King
—Charles Wesley, 1739
