Suicide

Is suicide a sin?

“You shall not .” Exodus 20:13, NKJV.

“Thus the first king of Israel perished, with the guilt of self-murder upon his soul.” Patriarchs and Prophets

What does 2 Samuel 1:26 mean?

“… Jonathan; … You have been very pleasant to me; Your love to me was wonderful, Surpassing the love of women.” 2 Samuel 1:26 NKJV.

Unlike Jonathan, who was pleasant to be around, Michal, Jonathan’s sister, “ [her husband, David] in her heart” (2 Samuel 6:15, 16).

A Statement of Consensus on Care for the Dying: “While Christian love may lead to the withholding or withdrawing of medical interventions that only increase suffering or prolong dying, Seventh-day Adventists do not practice “mercy killing” or assist in suicide (Genesis 9:5-6; Exodus 20:13; 23:7). They are opposed to the intentional taking of the life of a suffering or dying person.”
