Importance of basics
Receiving Christ as Savior and Lord is not the end but the of life in Christ.
What is the walk that protects us from error?
Receive Christ by faith
Our experience of first coming to Christ ought to mirror how we walk in Him the days of our lives.
How did we receive Jesus Christ?
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who in His name:” John 1:12
Christ Jesus the Lord
“… received Christ Jesus the Lord, …” Colossians 2:6
It is interesting to notice that the Apostles preached the Lordship of Christ. The word Savior occurs only in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 5:31, 13:23). On the other hand it is amazing to notice the title “Lord” is mentioned times; “Lord Jesus” 13 times; and “The Lord Jesus Christ” 6 times in the same book. The Gospel is: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” – Spurgeon
The walk
“… walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Colossians 1:10
The tree
“that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,” Ephesians 3:17
The only way to see the support wires removed is to see the roots go down.
How do we put our roots down?
The building
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy , praying in the Holy Spirit,” Jude 20
The school
“Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15
The river
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7, NLT
Thanksgiving
“giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20
“Therefore by Him let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” Hebrews 13:15
Deception looks .
“13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of , whose end will be according to their works.” 2 Corinthians 11:13–15
“Old error in new dress, is ever error nonetheless.”
