Misconceptions… You Get What you Deserve
Pastor Blake Hanson | 3.31.24

Misconception: Our is too much for God.

Luke 23:32–33 (NIV)

32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.

33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.

Luke 23:34 (NIV)

34Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing…”

Luke 23:39 (NIV)

39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”

Luke 23:40–41 (NIV)

40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?

41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

 Luke 23:41–42 (NIV)

41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

 Luke 23:43 (NIV)

43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Ephesians 2:3–5 (NIV)

Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath

4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Psalm 103:10–12 (NLT)

10 He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve

11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.

12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

 IT IS FINISHED!
