The In-Between…..Finding God in the Silence, the Struggle, and the Places In-Between

The Challenge and the Beauty of the In-Between is about learning to fully embrace the space between where you are and where God is taking you; it’s about embracing God’s .

What to do in the in-between: 

Determine to Overcome  

Plan your response ahead of time when you don’t have the trauma and issues distracting your attention. Know before it happens what you will do. Revelation 2:7, 11, 3:5

Keep Praying  

Matthew 7:7-8 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Stay Faith-filled in your prayers:

James 1:6-8 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Note we are particularly susceptible to lies in the in-between.

Jeremiah 29:8-12 This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let your prophets and fortune-tellers who are with you in the land of Babylon trick you. Do not listen to their dreams, 9 because they are telling you lies in my name. I have not sent them,” says the Lord. 10 This is what the Lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. 

70 YEARS of In-Between!

BUT THEN I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen.

Stay Faithful/Determined in the Ambiguity of In-between

Psalm 27 Pray for courage to stand in the face of uncertainty….wisdom to stand in the time of confusion….truth in the days of untruth.

Learn to Appreciate the In-Between

GOD is in the in-between, working on/arranging the answer!

Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Pray and WAIT upon God in the in-between

Lament if you need to, but always make sure it ends with a declaration of trust in God.

Lamentations 3:19-26 The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words.

20 I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss.

21 Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this:

22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

25 The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.

26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.

Lament is not the opposite of faith.  

The big difference between complaining and lamenting is humility or ingratitude.

Worship and serve the Lord God in the In-Between

Because this life…….is not our home or our hope; this life the in-between. In EVERY in-between, God is at work and He remains worthy of our praise.
