Finding Joy in the Journey

Where is JOY found?

1. Found in God’s .
(Psalm 16:11 ESV) …in your presence there is fullness of joy…

2. Found in Believing the .
(Luke 2:10-11 NIV) But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 

(1 Peter 1:8 NLT) You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.

3. Found through the .
(Galatians 5:22-23 NLT) But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 
23 gentleness, and self-control.

Three Keys to Unlocking Joy in the Journey

1 st Key: the good in Life.

(Philippians 1:1-5 NIV) Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 I thank my God every time I remember you.
4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day
until now,

Joy can’t be present today while rehearsing the hurts of yesterday.

2 nd Key: God is doing a work in each of us

(Philippians 1:6 NIV) being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

3 rd Key: with other believers

(Philippians 1:7-8 NIV) It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.
8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

(Genesis 2:18 NIV) The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.”

2 nd Key: God is doing a work in each of us
3 rd Key: with other believers
