10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.

11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!

Christmas is a season of

Salvation:

Psalm 118:5 (NLT)

5 In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.

1. Free from over our past.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)

21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (some translations say, “He poured all of our sin in christ.”

2. Free from and resentment.

Hebrews 12:15 (NLT)

15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

3. Free from the of others.

Galatians 1:10 (NLT)

10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

4. Free from habits.

John 8:36 (NLT)

36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

5. Free from the of death.

Hebrews 2:14–15 (NLT)

14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.

15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
