Acts 1:6–8 (ESV)

6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 

7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Observations of the Holy Spirit…

1) The Holy Spirit is a . 

 

Acts 1:4 (NLT)

4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. 

 

Luke 24:49 (ESV)

49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

 

2) The Bible uses terms for the baptism of The Holy Spirit

 

1. “Baptized with the Holy Spirit”

Acts 1:5 (ESV)

5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

 

2. “Holy Spirit comes on you”

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

 

3. “Pour out my spirit” 

Acts 2:17 (ESV)

17 “ ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh…
