Calming Down the Craziness

Calming Down the Craziness
Pastor Blake Hanson | 5.8.22

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Big Idea:  In the craziness of life choose to make Jesus the priority.

Luke 10:38–42 (ESV)

38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.

40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”

41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

HOW WE MAKE JESUS OUR PRIORITY…
1) Welcome Jesus into every area of our life.

Psalm 27:4 (ESV)

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

2) Stay within close proximity of Jesus.

“Your priorities must be God first, God second, and God third, until your life is continually face to face with God.” Oswald Chambers

Luke 6:47–48 (ESV)

47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:

48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.

3)  Target what is most important.

Luke 10:40 (ESV)

40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”

4) Receive correction and direction.

Luke 10:41(ESV)

41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

Luke 10:42 (ESV)

42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

“As God is exalted to the right place in our lives, a thousand problems are solved all at once.” – A.W. Tozer
