What God Needs

Aseity (from Latin a “from” and se “self” ) The property by which a being exists in and of itself, and from itself. … self-derived or self-originated and, specifically, absolutely self-sufficient.

1) As Lord, God owns all things. God is possessor of heaven and earth. 

Psalm 24:1  The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

2) Everything possessed by us comes from God.  

James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.

3) When we give something back to God, we give him only what he has first given to us. 

Luke 12:42 And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them.

4) When we give something back to God, he is not obligated to recompense us. 

Luke 17:10 In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’”

5) God owes nothing to any creature. Notice how God answers Job: 

Job 41:11 Who has given me anything that I need to pay back? Everything under heaven is mine.

Romans 11:35 “And who has given (God) so much that he needs to pay it back?
36 For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory.

6) God has no needs.  

Psalm 50:9 I do not need the bulls from your barns or the goats from your pens.
10 For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.

7) God is by his nature, “a se”

Acts 17:24 “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples,
25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs.  

God is Omnipresent (everywhere), Omniscient (all-knowing), Omnipotent (all-powerful), Omnibenevolent (supremely good).

God has CHOSEN to need us!

1) God’s plan is to USE mankind. 

2) God does all the work. 

3) God Chose One People

4) God Chooses One Body – His Church! 

Ephesians 4:4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.

5) God individually chooses every believer – generally

Ephesians 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy (set apart) and without fault in his eyes.

John 15:16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

1) God only needs a very few to do the very few big things.

2) God needs EVERY follow to be obedient/available/willing to do what is needed.

3) You’re never too old. (e.g. Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Noah)

4) You’re never unqualified.

What Does God Need from YOU  in order to fulfill His plan to redeem the world?

Pray – prayer precedes EVERY great move of God

Witness – Tell Them!

Represent – We are ambassadors, we speak for God  

Immediate Availability, Willingness, and Obedience
