STAND SUNDAY

Today is National Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday which is a push for churches to join together to stand in unity for those children who may not be able to stand up for themselves. In September, 9,409 children were placed in foster care in indiana. The numbers of placements are very increased from normal right now. One of our goals with the foster care initiative is to bring more awareness to the need for foster families in our community. Do you want to learn more about what we do to help?

• Did you know that in Howard County alone, 130 children went into foster care in September and of those 130, we have only 54 homes for them to go to. That’s 58.5% that had to leave our county to be cared for. Only 41.5% of children who need a place in Howard county are able to stay in Howard county. We can change that!

• This year we have given away 97 journey bags! Our Journey bag efforts continue. For info on what we need for bags. You can buy items or build a whole bag.

• Through Care Portal, we have had an economic impact of $13,832 caring for 39 children. We have provided beds, bedding, bed frames, pillows, mattress protectors, and groceries to families! We are continuing with Care communities to support the foster families in our church and Care Portal to meet the need for beds through our Department of Child Services. JOSIAH WHITE’S

You may have seen our Christmas trees on the way in at Next Steps! We are once again partnering with Josiah White’s to provide gifts for foster children in our community. Please stop by there and grab an ornament to provide a gift for a foster child. Don’t forget to record your ornament with the folks at Next steps. Gifts should be returned by December 1.

Did you know that our prayer teams are ready to help you bring anything to the Lord every week? You can come to the prayer room at the back of the auditorium after each gathering and we will pray with you and for you.
