July 28, 2024Jump to What’s Happening at Crossroads

5 To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal? (Isaiah 46:5)
6 Lord, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power. (Jeremiah 10:6)
8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
17 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” 18 “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! 19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy …” (Luke 10:17-19)
The spiritual world is driven by .
6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6)
Authority is the right to power.
The enemy will always be active in our lives, but he needs our to be productive.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth … (Philippians 2:9-10)
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
4 C’s To Take Back Authority:
1. my sin.
8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:8-9)
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil. (Ephesians 4:26-27)
2. any permissions given to the demonic.
18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. 19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
3. the demons to leave.
19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy … (Luke 10:19)
4. this area of my life to Jesus.
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. (Galatians 5:24-25)

What is spiritual warfare? What is it not? Our current series, Let’s Talk About It: Spiritual Warfare, which runs throughout July. This is a topic that brings confusion and fear to many. As a result, we can either ignore the topic or become so consumed with the topic we live in fear. Neither position is Biblical. In this series, we hope to have honest conversations on the main ideas of the spiritual opposition we face to our faith. We have a resources page available if you want to learn more about spiritual warfare.
