1 In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,  2 the earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (Genesis 1:1-2)

26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image … 28 Then God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” (Genesis 1:26, 28)

God wants to with us.

22 I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant. From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel. (Exodus 25:22)

We hear God best when we give him to speak.

1 Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the Lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the Lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon.  2 One night Eli, who was almost blind by now, had gone to bed.  3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God.  4 Suddenly the Lord called out, “Samuel!” “Yes?” Samuel replied. “What is it?”  5 He got up and ran to Eli. “Here I am. Did you call me?” “I didn’t call you,” Eli replied. “Go back to bed.” So he did. (1 Samuel 3:1-5)

8 Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy.  9 So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back to bed.  10 And the Lord came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”  11 Then the Lord said to Samuel… (1 Samuel 3:8-11)
