We Have Come to Worship

Prayer and Fasting: January 9 – 29, 2023

¹ Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
² Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
³ Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
⁴ Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
⁵ For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. (Psalm 100:1-5)

When we gather together:

1. Make a noise.

¹³ Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. (James 5:13)

²⁵ Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. ²⁶ Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! (Acts 16:25-26)

2. Lifting holy .

¹ O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help!  ² Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. (Psalm 141:1-2)

⁸ In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy. (1 Timothy 2:8)

3. my praise.

³⁶ One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat. ³⁷ When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. ³⁸ Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.
⁴⁷ “I tell you, her sins — and they are many — have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” ⁴⁸ Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.” (Luke 7:36-38, 47-48)
