                                Pentecost People:  Compassionate Care

                                                    Acts 3:1-10

 

During this Pentecost season we are having a huge discussion about

 

How do the stories and practices of these early Pentecost people our own?

 

  1. Peter and John were going to the Temple to

 

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer–at three in the afternoon. Acts 3:1 (NIV) 

 

  1. They encountered a lame man who was & in need

 

    Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. Acts 3:2 (NIV) 

 

  1. Peter and John took notice of the man’s

 

    Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” Acts 3:4 (NIV) 

 

  1. They offered in Jesus’ name

 

    Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Acts 3:6 (NIV) 

 

  1. The man eagerly and praised God

 

    He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. Acts 3:8 (NIV) 

 

6     From the beginning Christ’s Church has been known for

 

 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14 (NIV) 

 

Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed. Acts 5:16   (NIV)

 

 

         Pentecost people pray and work for throughout our world in Jesus’ name
