The Incomparable Love of God

November 5, 2023

Series: Romans
Speaker: Tim Perkins
Date: Nov 5, 2023
Scripture: Romans 8:31-32
Title: God is working in all things!

(Romans 8:31-32 NIV) What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

1st Question: What then shall we say to ?

(Romans 8:31 ESV) What then shall we say to these things?

(Romans 1:16 NIV) I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…

(Romans 1:17 NLT) This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.

(Romans 3:10 NIV) There is no one righteous, not even one;

(Romans 3:21-24 NLT) But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law… 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

(Romans 5:1 NLT) Since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

(Romans 6:2 NIV) We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

(Romans 6:22a NIV) But now that you have been set free from sin and… the benefit you reap leads to holiness,

(Romans 7:4 NLT) You died to the law with Christ.

(Romans 8:1 NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

2nd Question: If is for us, can be against us?

(Romans 8:31 NIV) What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

(Romans 8:31b NIV) If God is for us, who can be against us?

(Ephesians 6:12 NIV) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

(Psalm 23:1 NLT) The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

(Psalm 23:4 NIV) Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

(Psalm 27:1 NIV) The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

(Psalm 46:1 NIV) God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

(Isaiah 40:25-31 NIV) “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls them each by name Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Why do you say, 0 Jacob, and complain, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

3rd Question: If God gave us , won’t He give us else we need?

(Romans 8:32 NIV) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

(Isaiah 53:4 NIV) But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

(2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV) God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

(1 Peter 2:24 ESV) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree…

(Romans 8:32 NIV) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

(Romans 4:25 NLT) He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.

(Matthew 27:46 ESV) Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

(Galatians 3:13 NLT) But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing.

(Romans 8:32a NIV) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us

(1 Peter 3:18a NIV) For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.

(Romans 5:8 NLT) But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

(Romans 5:10 ESV) For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

… Behold the man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

… I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

(Romans 8:32 NIV) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

(Romans 8:32 NIV) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

How marvelous! How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be:
How marvelous! How wonderful!
Is my Savior’s love for me!
