THE GOOD LIFE

October 30, 2022

Message: The Good Life – Fall Fest 2022
Speaker: Tim Perkins
Date: October 30, 2022

The Good Life begins when we stop trying to earn God’s love and start to learn God’s love.

(Genesis 37:3-4 NLT) Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe. But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.

(Romans 5:10-11 NLT) For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

“It is possible that God says every morning, “Do it again” to the sun; and every evening, “Do it again” to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.” G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

(Genesis 37:5-8 NLT) One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever. “Listen to this dream,” he said. “We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine!” His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.

  1. Share the .

(Genesis 37:9-11 NLT) Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. “Listen, I have had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me!” This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. “What kind of dream is that?” he asked. “Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you?” But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant.

(Romans 3:23 ESV) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

(Romans 3:10-12 NIV) As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; 11  there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12   All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

(Romans 6:23 NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Romans 10:13 NIV) “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

(Romans 10:9 NLT) If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
