Discussion Questions:

1. Have you ever been “served a slice of humble pie”? What happened, and what did you learn from it?
2. Why do you think pride is so destructive to friendships, marriages, and families? Read James 4:1–2. How do these verses connect pride to fights and quarrels we experience today?
3. How can pride show up in our prayer lives (James 4:3)? What does it look like when someone is “sitting in God’s seat” in their own life?
4. James 4:4 says that friendship with the world makes us an enemy of God. What does that mean, and how do we see “the world” telling us life should be all about me?
5. Read Philippians 2:5–8. What stands out to you about Jesus’ humility? How does Jesus’ example challenge the way we live day to day?
6. How can you go from wearing your pride as a badge of honor to being miserable over it? What steps would you need to take? What would have to change in your understanding of pride and humility?
7. What does it practically look like to “humble yourself before the Lord” in daily life?
8. John 3:30 says, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” What is one area where you can live that out this week?
