So They May Hear: Acts
Dr. Clayton Chisum
July 27, 2025
Acts 16:1, 3, 7 (NLT)
Secret #1: Trust God’s “No”
Your plans are never bigger or better than God’s plans.
Sometimes you have to keep walking with God even when you don’t know where He’s leading you.
Acts 16:9-10 (NLT)
Have you ever felt like you’re just waiting around for something to happen in your walk with God?
Acts 17:22-23, 27, 30 (NLT)
Secret #2: Having something worth sharing can take your spiritual life to the next level
1 Peter 3:15-16 (NLT)
If you have a hard time sharing your faith, maybe it’s because you really don’t know what you believe and so you have little to say.
Philippians 3:10 (NLT)
Acts 18:1-4 (NLT)
Secret #3: Grow roots where God plants you
The reason you may feel stuck is because you aren’t content with where God has you.
1 Corinthians 7:17 (NLT)
Discussion Questions:
- Can you share a time when God closed a door in your life (e.g., a relationship, job, or plan) that didn’t make sense at the time? How did trusting God’s “No” lead to something better?
- Paul shared his faith boldly in Athens by connecting with the culture. What’s one thing about your faith or personal story with God that you feel confident sharing with others?
- What holds you back from sharing your faith? How can knowing Christ better (Philippians 3:10) help you overcome those barriers?
- Paul worked as a tentmaker in Corinth, living a “normal” life while serving God. How can you serve God in the ordinary parts of your life (e.g., work, school, or community)?
- Where in your life (work, relationships, faith, etc.) do you currently feel “stuck”? How might applying one of the three secrets from the sermon help you move forward? What’s one practical step you can take this week to get “unstuck” in your walk with God?
- How can this group pray for or support you in an area where you feel stuck?
