Discussion Questions:
- What personality differences do you have within your family?
- The 5 love Languages are a classic tool to recognize differences in your family and how to treat them. Do you know the love languages of your family? (words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch)
- What kind of conflicts are most common in your family? How are personality differences and personal choices wrapped up in our conflicts?
- In Acts 15, Paul and Barnabas had a knock-down, drag-out fight that caused them to separate. How is this biblical example like family conflict (especially with how they isolated from each other, picked sides with others, and gravitated toward what was most comfortable)?
- Biblical solutions to family conflict can be seen in this Acts 15 story as well as the restoration of relationships found later in the New Testament. How can this be modeled in your family this week?
- Remember you’re on the same team (they reconciled because they had a shared focus)
- Recognize your diversity is God’s good plan (how God has uniquely made us and the different passions we have are continually used by God for his purposes — we should embrace this truth despite our differences)
