Discussion Questions

  1. How has impulse buying impact your spending?
  2. What difference do you think having more financial margin would make in your life? Be specific. How might it impact your stress, your arguments, or even your appetite for more?
  3. In the message, you heard that the culture teaches us that the things you treasure should follow your heart. But Jesus stated that our hearts follow what we spend our money on. What’s the difference, and why does the difference matter?
  4. In Matthew 6:25-27, Jesus tells us not to worry about our lives, what we will eat or drink, or about our bodies, what we will wear. How would living with margin help us to heed Jesus’ instruction not to worry about these things?
  5. Jesus teaches us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. How does living within your means and having money to give align with this command? How might it change your current lifestyle or priorities?
  6. What practical steps can you take to create more financial margin in your life? How would these steps enable you to live more ‘on mission’?
