  • Only Gentile author of the Bible
  • Never included his name (but Paul did in 3 letters)
  • Medical doctor and close friend of Paul

Luke 1:1-4 ESV

“The gospel came to you because it’s heading to someone else. God saved you to be a conduit through whom his glorious, life-changing gospel would flow to others.” -Robby Gallaty

Luke gave us a model to follow: To see life as our ministry and leverage it for God’s glory

Leverage: “The art of using something that you already possess to achieve something new and better.”

Questions for Small Group Discussion:

  1. What did you know about Luke prior to today’s message?
  2. Read 2 Timothy 4:9-11 (NLT). Has there been a time when someone has remained by your side after all others had gone? Discuss.
  3. Read Luke 1:1-4 (ESV). Luke’s gospel was written for one man, but its ripple effect is widespread and ongoing. Discuss other ripple effects you have heard about or personally witnessed.
  4. Luke embraced the opportunity to use his life as his ministry. How have you used your talents, hobbies, circumstances, relationships, or even hardships to minister to others? How have others used these things to minister to you?
  5. The definition of leverage is “the art of using something that you already possess to achieve something new and better.” Luke leveraged his position, profession, and personal connections for God’s purposes. How are you leveraging your life for God’s purposes?
