Did He Just Say That: Tell No One

December 5, 2021 / Dr. Clayton Chisum

And Jesus said “Tell No One”

Did He Just Say That?

December 5, 2021

Dr. Clayton Chisum

Jesus should not be a secret in our lives, we are to go and tell others about the Gospel!

Jesus would sometimes invite people to share their stories about his miraculous works.

Mark 5:18-20 (ESV)

Jesus often said “Tell no one”

This doesn’t make much sense, why would he want people to keep him a secret?

Mark 5:41-43 (ESV)

Mark 7:34-36 (ESV)

Mark 1:28 (ESV)

Mark 1:33-44 (ESV)

The people wanted the stuff, not the stuff

What do you want from God?

Jesus didn’t want them focusing on the miracles, but rather his message and his coming death.

Luke 23:8 (ESV)

Jesus wanted to teach about their need for him and how he could save them; it’s what he came to do.

Luke 4:18 (ESV)

Jesus is on a to invite you to the gospel

His primary mission was to teach, not to heal.

John 1:1 (ESV)

Most of the people Jesus directed not to tell about the miracles did not obey that.

Mark 7:36-37 (ESV)

Mark 1:45 (ESV)

Getting ahead of God is a foolish endeavor

Proverbs 3:5-7 (ESV)

When they got ahead of Jesus, it affected the gospel going out.

The crowds kept pressing Jesus and his disciples to do more miracles, and Jesus was exhausted.

Mark 4:35-38 (ESV)

Mark 6:30-31 (ESV)

Mark 6:32-34 (ESV)

If you’re not careful, too much and too little can hurt your relationship with God.

Are you doing too much?
