Calvary Baptist Church Red Bank Searching for Servants Archived – March 24, 2024 View This Week’s Note View All Past Notes View This Note w/o Blanks Main Scripture Reference(s) Acts 6:1-7 Searching for Servants March 24, 2024 / Greg Powell / Acts 6:1-7 This chapter represents a shift for the early church. At this point, there could be about 20,000 people that make up the first church crammed into the Temple courtyard for preaching. They filtered into hundreds of homes during the week for fellowship and Bible study. Their leaders had two scuffles with the law and now had a criminal record. The church had recently witnessed the death of two hypocrites in the middle of a service. Yet, the words “power” and “unity” were the best terms to describe the impact and the atmosphere of the early church. The church has faced persecution bravely and corruption purely, but now it comes face to face with a new enemy – disunity. Satan is always ready with a new tactic. I. The (1) brings problems. We would all do well to realize that churches, as wonderful as they are, are not to problems. The best kind of growth is -centered growth. Acts 5:42 tells us they were keeping the Word .
