This means no skipping books or chapters. It forces us to handle tough texts and tough issues. Daniel 8 is the kind of chapter you would only go to if you were preaching through the Bible or the book of Daniel. I think it’s best to cover this passage by talking about the 5 main characters that show up here. The last one is Satan’s superman. I. (1-2, 15-19, 26-27) This wasn’t a dream; it was a . Daniel wasn’t asleep, he was awake. He was transported in the vision to which was about 200 miles away from Babylon. The visions of Daniel 7 and 8 are but different. II. (3-4, 20) The two symbolize the Medes and Persians. History has what was future at the point of the vision. Our sovereign Lord can use even a pagan king to accomplish His ! III. The (23-27) A prophetic principle of Scripture is that often there is a fulfillment and a fulfillment. If you compare verses 23-27 with verses 9-14, you will see that the characteristics and career of Antiochus those of Antichrist. · Both begin modestly but increase in power and influence, · Both blaspheme God with mouths that speak great things, · Both persecute the Jewish people, · Both claim to be gods and put images in the temple, · Both impose their own religion on the people, · Both are opposed by a believing remnant that knows God, · Both are energized by the devil and are great deceivers, · Both appear to succeed marvelously and seem to be invincible, · Both are finally defeated by the coming of a redeemer (Judas Maccabees and Jesus Christ). Let’s close by looking and Daniel’s response to all this in verses 26-27 and apply it to us today. (1) Keep your heart at . (2) Keep your head in the . (3) Keep your hands at .
