Calvary Baptist Church Red Bank Focus on People Archived – January 22, 2023 View This Week’s Note View All Past Notes View This Note w/o Blanks Main Scripture Reference(s) Philippians 1:3-8 Focus on People January 22, 2023 / Greg Powell / Philippians 1:3-8 Paul was having one of those days. Paul had every reason to think only of himself. From where he writes this letter, he is under house arrest, and Roman guards alternate shifts throughout the day and night, literally handcuffed to the aging apostle. Yet, it is clear as you read this letter that he is anything but miserable. Why? Because he makes a choice to focus on people. Let’s explore 4 ingredients of what it means to focus on people. I. Have people on your . (3) Paul’s relationship with God shaped and influenced his relationship with other people. The problems didn’t crush the . This was a good, solid church of people who were spiritually minded and Paul thanked God for them. Don’t look for before you show gratitude; look for the evidence of God’s in people’s lives. II. Have people in your . (4) You will observe something if you study the prayers of Paul and that is he rarely prays for – but he is always praying for . Have you ever had anybody tell you, with absolute sincerity, that they were praying for you? Do you remember what that did for you? It brought you . You can’t be and at the same time pray for others. Our fellowship in the gospel with others is part of God finishing what He started doing in our lives. There is the work God does for us – that’s ; There’s the work God does in us – that’s sanctification; and there’s the work God does through us – that’s (partnership with people). IV.
