Week One: Get to the Truth

(MULTILINE REVEAL SMALL)

A. Four Corrective Lenses That Will Help Us Get to the Truth

1.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

2.

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:16-17a)

“When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16:13a)

3.

“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” (Proverbs 27:6)

“I don’t need a friend who changes when I change, and nods when I nod. My shadow does that much better.” (Plutarch)

4.

“Walk with the wise, and you will become wise.” (Proverbs 13:20)

Today’s “Big Idea”

You what you .

“From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priest alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious.

‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.” (Jeremiah 6:13-14)

Small Group Discussion Questions

  2. What makes a friend a trusted friend? Do you have someone like this in your life? Why/why not?

  3. Why is it easier to hide emotional and mental wounds than it is physical wounds? If you are comfortable, share some “wounds” you have hidden in the past.
