WHAT TO DO WHEN THE STORM ARRIVES

Notes:

“Start children off the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6)

“There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father,

‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country

and there squandered his wealth in wild living…” (Luke 15:11-13)

Explaining the Proverb…

Think of a proverb as an ancient bumper sticker or an ancient tweet. It is a bite-sized piece of wisdom, tightly wound in a memorable little package. A proverb is not a promise. A proverb is a probability. Proverbs 22:6 is not teaching: “A godly parent guarantees a godly child.” Proverbs 22:6 is teaching: “A godly parent makes it for a child to , and for a child to .”

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” (Psalm 46:1-3)
