John 19:12-16   We have no King but…

The closer we are to spiritual things, the danger of acting out of impure becomes greater.

After Pilate tried times to have Jesus released, we read that he continued trying to have him

The Jewish leaders Piilate by saying that if he released Jesus, he would not be a of Caesar’s.

The title “friend of Caesar” was somewhat of an title or status

The Irony is that for the Jews to get their way, they must cast themselves as l of Caesar.

The Jews demonstrate to a political power structure that they had previously disavowed.

In the space of a there would be a massive Jewish revolt against Rome that would Jerusalem and the temple.

The “day of preparation” here refers to – the day before the Sabbath of Passover week.

We cannot escape the fact that Jesus is presented as the true Passover lamb, for freedom is found in no one else!

Pilate says, “Behold your king,” as he brings Jesus out, and the purpose is to the Jews by saying, in essence, Every king you bring up against Rome will end the same way.

Pilate is saying that they will never be free from Roman in response to the hypocritical claim to be Caesar’s loyal subjects.

The Jews double down and claim to have king but Caeser.

The Jews were certainly aware of Daniel chapter and the story of r!

The Jews believed that their in this case, were right — they convinced themselves that what they were doing was in the end.

These religious leaders are an example of how people (we) our sinful behavior.

We must remember why Jesus went to the cross: to save
