John 19:1-11

Question: Who really has the to put Jesus to death?

Appeasing one’s own conscience and the world, too, works.

Pilate has Jesus flogged in an effort to Jesus. 

This was the brutal of floggings ordered and was to serve as a . 

We, too, try and take and rule our own lives and Jesus. 

Instead of looking at Jesus portrayed as a king and wanting him dead, they should have fallen down and worshiped.

Why was Pilate afraid?

The Roman idea of the Son of God differed and didn’t carry Jewish messianic implications.  

Pilate seems to be the final judge and jury in the case of Jesus.

Jesus is the picture of meekness!

Jesus essentially tells Pilate that Jesus is the one allowing this to happen. 

Three implications of Jesus’ true authority:

A. Worship

B. Prayer

C. Obedience
