What is the Church?

Matthew 18:15-20

“Tell it to the church….”  What the church is has a bearing on how we apply this text

The Nature of the Church

A. Called By God

The church’s makeup is those who have been “ by God.” 

God people to Himself — justifies them — sanctifies them, and ultimately them. 

The church has a pivotal role in the of believers.

B. The Body of Believers

The Church is made up of Christians from stratosphere of society

C. Worship

Why do we gather for worship? 

We want to worship the one who us!

The Church gathers on Sunday to celebrate the of Jesus.

D. Fellowship and Accountability 

Christians live in a community where we see true and fellowship and accountability. 

The Church exists for our sanctification

We care and even correct others because we them and desire their sanctification. 

We must remember that we are weak and can easily succumb to . We should love and correct others the way we want others to us. 

E. Gifts for Ministry 

The Holy Spirit gives every believer a to build up the church and minister to the world.

The Mission of the Church 

The church loves and cares for one another, and we love and care for the around us. 

God is still calling people to Himself. 

The Holy Spirit every Christian to be a to God’s salvation!
