One of the most important doctrines for interpreters of the Bible to get right is

What is Revelation? Revelation is God making Himself . 

Why does God make Himself known to all people in creation? In order that every person is left without before God. 

God’s wrath is revealed against ungodliness and unrighteousness.

General Revelation: God making Himself known to all people, in all places, and in all times in a general ay that cannot save but leaves people with no excuse before God.

Remember: We know anything about God unless God reveals it to us.

Special Revelation: God making Himself known ot specific people, in specific times, in specific places with the power to save.

How does God make Himself known in a special or specific way? 

-Apostles and Prophets, with Jesus being the chief !

Does God still reveal Himself in a special way to people outside of Scripture?

The Holy Spirit’s work in helping the believer understand God’s self Revelation.

Application:

A. God is making Himself known to you in the pages of Scripture.

B. The Bible is all about Christ (from beginning to end), who is the clearest revelation of God.

C. confessions are not only a “doctrinal statement” but an expression of the community of faith when it comes to understanding the Scriptures. 

We do not meaning to the Scriptures but discern it!
