Do not be Afraid

Jesus was about to lead the disciples to the Garden of

Being a Christian does not make us from the storms of life. 

Christ Himself us into those storms.

Example: Mark 4 (Jesus calming the storm)

J.C. Ryle: “Jesus didn’t promise to leave the disciples an inheritance of money or influence or safety but he gives them, inward peace of conscience, arising from the sense of pardoned sin and reconciliation with God.” 

Matthew Henry: “When Christ was about to leave the world he made his will. his soul he bequeathed ot his Father; His body he bequeathed to Joseph, to decently interred. His clothes fell ot the soldiers, His mother he lft to the care of John; but what should he leave to his poor disciples who had left all for him? Silver and gold he had none; but he left them what was infinitely better, his peace.” 

Jesus gives us with God through Jesus Christ and experience it through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. 

Threats to the Peace Jesus Brings:

— The hostility and brutality of an unloving

       — worldly peace is insincere, impotent, and Selfish (James Boice)

— Jesus’ leaving is not a threat to peace because of the ministry. 

Observations about the Spirit’s ministry: 

— The Spirit teaches us today but the same message that Jesus gave the disciples 

— Our understanding of God’s word is
