Agreement Among Witnesses – John 8:12-20

Introduction: 

Three options when it comes to one who is a witness against you in a court of law:

Option 1: the Witness

Option 2: the Witness

Option 3: Have testimony tossed on a

The Religious leaders (after trying options 1 and 2) resort to option

No person could be convicted of a crime on the testimony of a witness. 

Numbers 35:30  Deuteronomy 19:15

The line of reasoning by the religious leaders is disingenuous:

First: This was not a criminal case, and they should have tested Jesus under the standard of a .

Second: There actually were (John the Baptist, Nicodemus, and the lame man is chapter 5).

Disbelief has Little or Nothing to do with Evidence 

First: Jesus is rejected because He doesn’t to our ideal

Second: Unbelief is a matter of the at its core

Jesus’ Reaction to the Religious Leaders 

First: There is only one person with knowledge qualified to give such testimony (God Himself) (Verse 14)

Second: Jesus’ testimony is (all humanities is tainted by sin) (Verses 15-16)

Third: Jesus’ testimony didn’t stand on its own but was supported by the ! (Verses 17-18)

Application 

One: We must trust our own judgment on spiritual matters

Two: We must trust the of God

Three: If the Testimony of Jesus is true (which it clearly is), then we have an to accept it and submit to Jesus as our Lord and Savior!
