God’s Purpose

God’s purpose in everything is His own

God’s purpose in hardening the heart of Pharoah was to show these among them

God’s purpose was that these would tell the story of how God dealt with the Egyptians 

God’s purpose was that these would know that it was that delivered them 

God’s purpose was to f the ultimate redeemer: Jesus Christ

Telling Stories 

We all like a good — and we are attracted to true stories

The people will not forget the story of how Israel was from Egypt

The celebration of Passover was an occasion to remember what God had done and also tell the

The story explained freed them and how they are to the God that freed them

Bible Interpretation: We bring what we know of Christ back with us to help us understand the Old Testament 

The more we study the Old Testament — the more we see

Earthy oppression may kill the body and suffering for but the oppression of sin brings without end. 

We have a Story to Tell

The Passover Story was kept in front of the nation of Israel

The Passover was pointing to the ultimate liberation from Sin and Death accomplished by Christ

Every Sunday, we gather, and we tell a story — a story of liberation from bondage 

Those who have been freed from sin and death have a story to tell to those who are still in that bondage

How Long?

Exodus 1:11 — Pharaoh humbled the Hebrews with labor

Now Pharaoh is on the other side and he is being treated

If Pharaoh continues to refuse to himself — God will him!

The Worship of God

Pharaoh did not want all of the people to go and was willing to let only the go worship. 

Two False Assumptions from Pharaoh: 

He assumed he understood the worship of God

He assumed that women and children did not matter in the worship of God

The worship of God on morning is something we GET to do!

We, like the Israelites, have been freed in order to worship the LORD.
