Crowned with Glory and Honor — Hebrews 2:5-9

Introduction: If we say the solutions to the problems of the world are remedied in Christ — why are they still exist?

Hebrews 1 — Christ is greater than the

Is the subject to Christ? Christ now but his reign is not fully realized

Those who call Jesus Lord and Savior the rule and reign of Christ in their

We find ourselves subject to the condition of an where the effects of sin and rebellion seem to suffocate any glimpse of light and hope there is.

“It has been testified somewhere” — The point isn’t that the author doesn’t know where this was said but the fact it was in the Scriptures was enough for him.

Psalm 8: The majesty of God and the insignificance of humanity — it is then a that Good cares for humans the way He does.

Psalm 8:5-6 — God has given humanity over creation and crowned him with glory and honor.

Part of what it is to be created in God’s is to exercise dominion over creation (Like how I shot the skunk on Thursday that we saw in our yard Wednesday before church :-))

Genesis 1:26

Hebrews 2:8 “putting everything in subjection to him” is a reference to the God had given in the garden of Eden

The author of Hebrews points out in verse 8 (at the end) that this is the reality that we currently enjoy

We are unable to even control ourselves (let alone creation) when it comes to our passions and thoughts.

At the start of Genesis, we see how God things to look but in the second and third chapters we see it all go wrong

The devil always wants to persuade us that God is not really

Adam and Even (in the moment they ate) knew the good they had and the evil that they had by disobeying God

“Adam didn’t become like Good but like the devil whom he had obeyed.”

Matthew Henery “They saw the happiness they had fallen from, and the misery they had fallen into.”

The problem of humanity is set forth in a few chapters of the Bible and the rest of it is dedicated to the .

It is easier to see the purpose of God’s redemptive work —- and what was accomplished in the person and work of Jesus Christ if we understand what the problem is.

Since the fall — humanity is by God and unable to live righteously (or to please God by their behavior) and unable to live at peace with one another.

The solution to this problem does not come from , but from God himself

We must understand that the problem with humanity isn’t only outside of us but for we have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.

Hebrews 2:9

Humiliation | Glorification | Triumph

The significance of Jesus’ humiliation is that what was done in the fall is in Christ.

When Jesus died, death was not the victor but the victim

2 Timothy 1:10 says, “Christ Jesus who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”

Christ rules now and is advancing his kingdom with the sword of the — leading his people out of this present evil age into his glorious kingdom of light

“We see Jesus”   What the eyes of this world fail to see the eyes of faith behold

In what world have you placed your trust? Where is your treasure? Is it in this world or is it in Christ?
