The Lord’s Healing Hand

James 5:13.

1. Why is there sickness?

  • Genesis 3:19
  • Job 2:5, Job 2:8, Luke 22:31-34
  • 1 Corinthains 11:30, Acts 5:1-11
  • To teach us to 2 Cor. 12:9

One of the great promises of Scripture is that we have a God who Heals.

Psalm 103:2-3, Malachi 4:2. Exodus 15:26

II. Does God Still Heal? (James 5:13-18)

Why do we doubt?

  • (A view that healing and other spiritual gifts ceased with the Apostolic Age.)

Some specific examples of God healing.

III. Encouragements:

1. Focus on (James 5:13, James 5:14, James 5:15, James 5:16, James 5:17, James 5:18

Notice that God did miracles different each time. I think this is so that we would trust Him and not a formula. (2 Kings 18:4)

2. When God doesn’t heal

Many people in the Bible were not healed; John the Baptist, Paul’s thorn in the flesh, Uzziah’s leprosy, Jacob’s limp.

. . . Don’t stop praying.

. . . Don’t get angry with God.

. . . Don’t judge someone else.

. . . Don’t assume God’s angry with you. (But check in.)

. . . Don’t get bitter.

. . . Don’t fail to rejoice with those who are healed.

3. Address (James 5:19-20)

We owe the world:

  • Clarity about the Gospel.
  • That the Word of God be preached accurately.
  • Authenticity in Christian living. The World deserves to see what a Christian is.

We owe each other:

  • To listen to sins unburdened. James 5:16
  • To Intervene when someone strays from the Lord and into sin. James 5:19-20
