One Step Deeper, part 1

Text: Matt. 6:9-13

When Jesus taught pray: He opened door who God is.

1. I want my children to know that God wants

Matthew 6:9

• God is worth knowing!
• Impress on children the bigness of God.
• Exodus 20:19-21. Instead of going to meet this awesome God, the people sent Moses to meet God.

2. I want my children to know that God’s name

Matthew 6:9 “Hallowed be your name.”

• Teach them the names of God. (Psalm 18:10) Elohm, El-Shaddai, Yahweh, Yahweh Jiriah, Yahweh Rophe, Yahweh NIssi, Yahweh Shalom, Yahweh M’Kaddesh, Yahweh Shammah.
• Jesus taught us to call God, “Abba.” Daddy.
• Teach: never curse Name. (Exodus 20:7)

3. I want my children to know that there is a place for them

Matthew 6:10

• Teaching children that they are servants of the King is true discipleship. Live isn’t about us, it’s about Him.
• There is more going on than we can see. I want my children to learn to look for what God is doing around us and in every situation.

4. I want my children to know that God is

Matthew 6:11

3 basic truths:

• God can meet every need you’ll ever have.
• God wants to meet every need you’ll ever have.
• God will meet all your needs if you’ll trust him.

• Need to ask for God’s forgiveness.
• I need to forgive those who hurt me. Matthew 6:14-15
