Revelation 10 Study Questions

General questions:

1. What did you learn that you didn’t know before this study?

2. How did this study personally encourage you or grow your faith?

3. Wiesbe and other commentator see the angel in Revelation 10 as Jesus. Are there any problems with this view?

–He takes an oath in God’s name.

–Jesus is not represented as an angel.

–Jesus doesn’t have to swear to do right! He is right.

4. What are some ways God’s Word is difficult for us to preach or talk about today? How is the Bible “sweet” ? How is it “Bitter”?

5. I listed four things that are included in the “mystery” of the Gospel. What other mysteries are there with the Gospel?

My Four:

–That God will save his people by grace.

–That God’s people are more than the Jews.

–That God will bring justice to the wicked.

–That God will vindicate his people.

6. I have been presenting Revelation as a war between good and evil. The Church of Jesus verses the world and Satan. How do you see that war being played out today? Is the church faithful to the Gospel, or is it caving in?

Deeper study:

Read Revelation 11:16-18. This is the song the elders sing at the Coming of the Lord and the gathering of God’s people.

–In this passage, what event caused the 24 elders to be overcome with worship?

–Notice “awe” for God is not just something that happens on earth. Even in heaven we will stand in awe of God. What are some things that God has done that leave you in awe of him?

–Why are the elders thankful he has “begun to reign.” (11:17) Does that mean he does not reign now?

–God’s power should encourage the church. In Revelation 11, the church is just two little prophets against the world. In what ways does Christianity seem small and weak to you in this ear?

–Revelation 11:18 says that the nations “raged.” What are some ways we see that happening today? Why are the nations so angry with the Gospel?

–Revelation 11:18 says that God’s wrath “came.” Is God now pouring out wrath on the nations? How?

Bible study: Comparisons:

–John was told not to write what the 7 thunders said. Also Daniel 12 describes Daniel being told not to write down all that he saw. Take a moment to read 2 Cor. 12:1-4. What was Paul told not to write down? Why?

–Look at Ezekiel 3:1-4. How is this similiar to Revelation 10:8-11?

–Read Romans 16:26a and then read Revelation 10:7. What is the role of the “prophets” in these two passages?

Read Romans 16:26b and Revelation 10:11. What is the role of the nations in these passages?

Romans 16:25: “Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God (Rev 10:7 “just as he announced to his servants the prophets”), so that all nations might believe and obey him (Rev. 10:11“I was told, You must prophecy again abut many people, nations, languages and kings.”) — 27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.”
