THIRD P3RSON Part 2: 4 Ways To Know If You Are Hearing The Voice Of God

September 11, 2022

God doesn’t have a speaking problem
We have a hearing problem

Luke 8:8 NIV
8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown. ”When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

John 10:3 NIV
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

John 10:4-5 NIV
4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

You Have a Speaking God

2 Timothy 3:16 NIV
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

1. What does the Bible Say?

John 10:5 NIV
5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

2. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance

James 1:5-8 NIV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

Hebrews 11:1-3 NIV
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Proverbs 11:14-17 NIV
14 For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers. 15 Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe. 16 A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth. 17 Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.

3. Get confirmation from someone else

Colossians 3:15 NIV
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

4. Let the Peace of God be an Umpire
