The Holy Spirit Promise

(Part 7)

Welcome to Jesus Church here and online…

Today we are on part 7 in our series called The Holy Spirit Promise

  • Last week we took a break for Easter
    • Loved seeing everyone here together celebrating resurrection
    • We had to set up chairs to the back of the sanctuary
    • Every spot in the parking lot was filled… parking on the street
  • And I say that not because we want to fill a building
    • We just want to fill as many people as we can with hope of Jesus
    • Because that is our mission… its our “why”
    • To spread the Gospel to the world we touch everyday

That’s what this series is about – How do we reach our world for Jesus

  • What God given tools empower us to do what Jesus called us to do
    • And in my opinion… the most crucial tool comes out of John 20
    • Where Jesus sends the disciples out (as he sends us out)

 Jn 20:19

Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

  • He didn’t say receive a gift… or receive healing power… or prophecy
    • No we receive the Holy Spirit – And anything the H.S. wants to do
    • He will do through you if you are open to it
    • We forget Paul tells us to be equipped for “Every good work”

Looking forward to today for a few weeks

Because next up on the agenda: What Bible says about Healing

  • Hopefully today will just driving u to learn more
    • Jesus and Bible have tons to say on healing

Luke 4:14-21

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit. New about him spread throughout the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. (Quote about coming Messiah) Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

  • This is Jesus way of saying – Kingdom of God Isaiah prophesied about
    • It is now here… This is the place where
      • Blind see / Lame walk
      • Mentally ill are made whole
      • Cancer goes into spontaneous remission
      • People are freed of addiction
    • This reality that Jesus calls the “Kingdom of God”
      • Jesus is saying this is established here/now through me

This story in Gospel of Luke is launching point for rest of narrative

  • From here on out everything written is about this kind of stuff
    • And here are a few examples…

Luke 4:38-39

Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.

  • This is great: Jesus leans over to heal her
    • Are you feeling better?
    • B/C I could really use some of your home made lasagna right now

Luke 5:12-15

While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing”, he said. “Be clean!” (Meaning cut off from all society) And immediately the leprosy left him. Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” Yet (surprise, surprise) the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses.

  • Lets keep reading: Get good idea of Jesus ministry

Luke 5:17-26

One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. (Power in Luke is synonym for Spirit) Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”

  • If reading this for first time this can be confusing
    • B/C He is there because he can’t walk
    • Not because he was worried about his sin
    • But apparently there was something else going on

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy?” Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier: To say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.

Luke 6:17-19

Jesus went down with his disciples and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem and from the costal region around Tyre and Sidon, who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.

  • How many healed in this story???

Luke 7:1-10

When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum. There a centurion’s servant, who his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”

So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, “Go”, and he goes; and that one, “Come”, and he comes. I say to my servant, “Do this,” and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel. Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

  • One more story… next verse

Luke 7:11-16

Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approched the town gate, a dead person was being carried out – the only son of his mother and she was a widow (basically meant starvation). And a large crowd from the town was with her. And when the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, Get up and walk!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us” they said. “God has come to help his people.

So basically we see Jesus healing people – Everywhere he goes

  • Notice there is no formula… how to get healed by Jesus???
    • If you Die first? – If mom cries hard enough you get to come back
    • If you have right friends – Ones the will open a roof up
    • Right boss – If u work for right guy who has money (in w/ Jesus)
    • Catch Jesus when he is hungry – If u r there you get healed
  • There is no formula to Jesus’ healing
    • This is just what Jesus was about
    • 40% of stories in 4 gospels are about healing
  • Healing wasn’t something off to the side in gospels
    • It was at the heart of Jesus’ life and work

But not just Jesus – His followers too

Luke 9:1-2

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

  • Peter, James, John: You’ve been with me for awhile
    • Now your up – Go preach the kingdom of God
    • Cast out demons & heal the sick

Luke 9:6

So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere.

  • And it’s not just the 12 disciples – Lets keep going

Luke 10:1-2

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others (not the 12) and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

  • Jesus saying: I need more men/women to partner with me
    • To link arms in my kingdom work
    • This is EXACTLY what happens
    • Turn to book of Acts…

Acts 5:12-16 (Acts picks up after resurrection – 1st few decades of church)

The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers use to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade (Part of temple in Jerusalem). No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Nevertheless, more and more men and women believers in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.

  • And this should sound familiar
    • It’s the exact same thing we read about Jesus
    • Now we read it about Peter, Paul and 1st century church
  • And might object by saying well.. that’s Peter and his shadow
    • I’m definitely not Peter
    • My shadow doesn’t do anything
    • But it’s not just guys like Peter and apostles

Acts 8:4-7

Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip (Not an apostle) went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said (you would to). For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.

  • So here we have someone who is not an apostle
    • Follower of Jesus… but is a leader in the church
    • Here we read that “MANY” were healed
    • This is not “EVERYONE” this time
  • So its not always everyone was healed
    • And it’s not always Peter and his shadow
    • Obviously God was up to something special and unique
  • And we could go on and on with these type of stories
    • Tonight here are 4 thoughts to help make sense of what read

1. All healing must fit this now/not yet kingdom of God

If you here beginning of series: Said best way to look healing stories

  • Not as proof that Jesus is God (Although it is)… or proof as nice guy
    • As if point of Lukes Gospel is practice random acts of kindness
  • Best way to read healing stories in Gospels
    • As signs of the inbreaking Kingdom of God
    • This is what Kingdom of God looks like
      • Blind people who can see
      • Cripple people who can now walk
      • Chronic pain who are now pain free
      • Dying of cancer and now living long healthy life

But the Kingdom of God is: Now but not yet (Sound super confusing)

  • This is sorta theology 101
    • Talking about Kingdom of God is now…
    • Kingdom of God is also not yet
  • Meaning: Sometimes Jesus talking about the Kingdom as if here now
    • Kingdom of God is here among us now
  • Other times Jesus talks about Kingdom of God as in the future
    • So was Jesus double minded and confused
      • Is the kingdom now OR not yet
      • Answer is: YES – BOTH/AND

In theology this called “Inaugurated Escatology” (say this week & impress)

  • What was church about – Oh you know… Inaugurated Eschatology
    • Means: Jesus Inaugurated (Set in motion)
    • Eschatology: The study of the end

  • So in scriptures – The end is healing of all humanity and cosmos itself
    • So there is a day coming – All creation brought under rule of God
    • IN that reality – World will be set free from all evil
      • No war… injustice… pain
      • No hate…hurt… jealousy
        • And with that no death – No disease
        • This is a world set free from all evil
        • Where world is going w/ Jesus leading the way
  • But Jesus dragged this future into the present
    • Dragged this future reality and started it in here/now
    • Now because of death and resurrection
      • Bits and Pieces of this future are breaking in and spreading
      • Through Jesus/Spirit/Followers
      • So it is “NOW” but “NOT YET”

Here is what this means for healing

  • Because Kingdom of God is now…
    • Sometimes we pray for people who are sick – They get healed
    • This happens all the time
    • When it happens it is a sign that Kingdom of God is here

Luke 10:9 (Jesus says)

Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

  • But because the Kingdom of God is not yet…
    • Other times we pray for people – Don’t get better (get worse)
    • Or maybe even they die
    • Because the kingdom of God is now and not yet
  • Example: Michelle’s Grandfather
    • He had a severe drinking problem – Liver was basically done
      • About to die he prayed to God and was delivered
      • And his liver was made completely new
      • He was healed and it was glimpse of Kingdom of God here
    • But years later while hiking he got bit by a mosquito
      • Contracted West Nile Virus
      • People prayed over him
      • But he passed away from complications
    • So we see glimpses of the Kingdom of God all the time
      • However b/c Kingdom of God is not yet
      • We still contend with disease, sickness, and death

This is tension – Incredibly hard b/c everyone picks a side (Not yet/now)

  • Either all “NOT YET” – hyper conservative side
    • Cecationism: Belief all gifts ceased so we read Bible & do Church
    • And it’s all Kingdom of God – “NOT YET”
      • Sure Jesus will heal you after you die
      • In mean time we will pray for comfort, peace, insurance
      • We won’t pray for healing
  • Then others all about the “NOW”
    • Yes Jesus will heal you right now in the name of Jesus
      • Not healed? Must not have enough faith
      • Lets pray another 18 hours straight… maybe that will work
  • So people usually pick a side
    • But we have to live in this tension b/w “Now” and “Not yet”
      • So yes – Pray for healing and pray in faith
      • But know it’s not yet as well – And resurrection is coming
    • Frustrating to live in that tension
      • B/C of confusion, expectation, disappointment, waiting
      • Soul searching, Why them and not me, What r u waiting for
        • Is this me
        • Is it not you at all
        • Is this demonic
          • Middle really isn’t very fun

TAG: But we have to live in tension b/w “Now/Not yet” Kingdom of God

2. Also must understand: Healing is central to salvation

If healing central to Kingdom work of Jesus…

  • Obviously healing central to salvation – B/C its what Jesus is about
    • Word for “HEALED” is same as word for “SAVED”
    • SOZO – Means to keep alive

Mark 5:34

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed (SOZO – Word for Salvation) you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

  • Here is a woman who is sick and not well
    • And Jesus SOZO’d her – Healed her
  • But look at this story about a man named Zachius (Sunday school)
    • Not sick at all – Just cheats people out of their money
    • Then he gives life to Jesus – Pays everyone back 4x

Luke 19:9

Today salvation (Noun form of SOZO in Greek) has come to this house, because this man, too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save (SOZO) the lost.

  • Again this is the exact same word
    • So healing and salvation are not 2 separate words
    • They are the exact same thing
    • We need a wide view of what salvation is all about and up to

This view of salvation has to be set inside same “Now/Not yet” view

  • B/C Kingdom is “Now” and “Not Yet”
    • Everything has to fit inside the kingdom of God (stay with me)
  • Because salvation is now – General rule: Jesus wants you healthy
    • Sickness is not God’s will for your life – Health is
    • Are there exceptions – Kinda – Think of Paul’s “Thorn in his flesh”
      • At one point he says he prayed 3 times for God to heal me
        • Gods answer is “No, my grace is sufficient”
    • Even then he NEVER says sickness is from God but opposite
      • In fact he says it is a “Messenger of Satan”
      • Illness isn’t from Jesus – Hey here is cancer, thank me later
      • And a lot of people think that way
        • Just b/c Jesus does something GOOD thru suffering
        • Doesn’t mean he caused it
        • If something bad happens and then good comes from it
          • We don’t get mad at Jesus for being a jerk
          • And then pull a 180 and are happy w/ him again
          • We say that was evil AND Jesus is amazing
          • Look at the good he did out of that evil in ur life
    • Paul says this is evil and I don’t want it in my life
      • Jesus says I am not going to heal u this side of resurrection
      • Because I am up to something in this – Grace is sufficient
        • But these stories are the EXCEPTION TO THE RULE
        • Because salvation is HERE and NOW
        • What Jesus wants in our lives is SOZO – Life & Healing
  • At the same time Salvation is not yet
    • So sometimes we pray for healing and even though its God’s will
      • It doesn’t happen – Many reasons we don’t have time for
      • But even when people are healed
      • Best case scenario: All healing is temporary til resurrection
    • If you have cancer and u r dying and we pray and see healing
      • You get another 50 years which is amazing (Kingdom)
      • But still best case… you still die

Example – I remember first people I saw after they died was Grandfather

  • As you know it’s a strange experience – Phil (Papa)
    • There he is but he isn’t there
  • In light of all this stuff – My grandfather was follower of Jesus
    • So this isn’t the end of his story
    • 1 day at return of Jesus my grandfather will return with Jesus
      • In the resurrection of all humanity
      • But in resurrection form of his body
      • Without the decay and scars and effects of the curse of sin
        • And he will live forever in God’s new Kingdom
  • Because my Grandfather was saved & my grandfather will be saved
    • Because Salvation is NOW and Salvation is NOT YET

3. Healing is for the WHOLE person

In West – secular age – Enlightenment – Science focus – Greek philosophy

  • We think of the Body as separate from the Soul
    • Usually we think of healing to do w/ body and body alone
      • But Bible teaches we r “HUMANS” not a soul in a body (GK)
      • We are not a body with no soul (Secularism)
      • But an integrated wholistic being – a HUMAN being
  • Because of this there are 4 dimensions to healing
    • 1 – Spiritual Healing: Healing of relationship with God
      • Most basic type of healing… healing from sin
        • Spiritual healing is from ongoing sin in present/past
        • Set you at a distance from God himself
          • Addiction… Unresolved Sin… Hate…
        • Healing here looks like forgiveness from sin
          • And ALSO freedom from sin
          • Freedom and healing from – destruction/shame…
    • 2 – Physical Healing: Healing of the body
      • Broken leg – sickness – Arthritis
      • Most straightforward and easiest to pray for
    • 3 – Emotional Healing: Inner healing (Healing from memories)
      • Usually goes back to wound of past
        • Family of Origin / Mom or Dad
        • Abuse /Divorce / miscarriage
      • Traumatic event has power over u emotionally/relationally
        • Still an open door to your life
        • Where psychology & therapy can be incredible helpful
          • Good councilor helps u dig out root causes
          • Surface issue: Anxiety, Depression, Promiscuity
          • Root issue: Fill in the blank
      • When you figure out that issue(s)
        • It’s a huge moment in your life
        • Problem is knowledge is not always power
          • Sometimes all you need is figure out that root
          • Open up to accountability
          • Get some tools
          • And you are good
  • Other times you know truth after years but still stuck
  • U know the problem – Don’t know how to fix
  • This is when u need this inner healing

4 – Healing from demonic influence

  • Many would think of healing and deliverance as different
    • But as you can see it all kinda goes together
      • In the Bible: Healing and Deliverance go together
      • There are times where first 3 types
      • Root cause is actually a demonic spirit (RARE)
        • Should be default – I have a cold… it’s a demon
    • In these cases people need freedom from demonic influence
      • Ton of questions in this… that is next week
      • So make sure you come back!!!

So there is Spiritual/Physical/Emotional/Demonic healing

  • And many times those lines will blur – Healing will overlap
    • So there are times you pray and someone isn’t healed
    • Later find out there was physical issue but emotional as well
  • Story of someone from my church…
    • She had chronic pain in her shoulder
    • Pray that her shoulder would be healed
      • Linda given word of knowledge
      • There was emotional healing that needed to happen
      • She was very fearful – Showing up as pain
        • Prayed against that – Should we all better
    • This shows up ALL THE TIME
      • Unfogiveness… Anger… Shame… Insecurity
    • See how lines blur
      • Healing of Spiritual (addiction) b4 healing of physical (body)
      • Healing of Demonic influence b4 healing of emotions
  • Doesn’t mean: NO MORE DOCTORS – Thank God 4 that community
    • Pretty sure Jesus is a fan of your job
      • Think if you heal people for living – Jesus supports you
      • So we are for both/and
    • I don’t care how Jesus heals
      • Doctor/Psychologist/Physical Therapist/Dietician
      • AND through prayer/spirit of God/community/faith

And if this makes you uncomfortable… join the club

  • Not how we are comfortable thinking of healing is the west
    • We like: Body and Soul to be totally separate
      • Body is machine
      • Doctor is mechanic
  • See this way of thinking throughout the scriptures (2 examples)

James 5:14-16

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will lift them up. (Great… read next line) If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other (Thought talking about being sick) and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

  • So is passage on healing of sickness OR repentance/forgiveness of sin
    • Answer is: YES
    • Is he saying all sickness is caused by sin – NO WAY
      • So if you have a cold… not enough faith!!!
      • That isn’t what he is saying at all
    • Is he saying some sickness is caused by sin – yes he is

Acts 10:38

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with he Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of (who) the devil, because God was with him.

  • Is this a verse about Jesus healing sick or casting out demons
    • Again the answer is: YES
      • Is Jesus saying all sickness is caused by demons: NO
      • Is he saying that some sickness caused by demons: YES
  • Only point is all this stuff about separating physical/spiritual healing
    • In scriptures it all kinda bleeds over each other
    • And as humans we are whole persons
      • Evil has come to infect every facet of our lives
      • So we need Jesus healing over every part of our lives

4. Healing takes faith – Jesus takes faith from anywhere

Can’t stand when faith healers say: If u have faith u’ll be healed (claim it)

  • And if you are not healed what does that mean… not enough faith
    • So people healed go away arrogant
    • People not healed go away in guilt and shame
      • No awareness of the now/not yet
  • But like all good lies – This one is at least half true
    • No get around teaching of Jesus: relationship b/w Faith & Healing
    • Example – After many healings Jesus says: Faith has made u well
      • Jesus doesn’t even say he had – Faith had
    • Example – Bible says – Didn’t do many miracles b/c of lack of faith

So it takes faith to be healed: BUT Faith doesn’t have to come from sick

  • Problem with faith healers – What do u do with resurrection
    • Story of widow’s son
    • As a general rule: Dead people don’t have a lot of faith.. dead
      • But Jesus here heals the dead guy
  • So yes you have to have faith for healing
    • But Jesus will grab that faith from anywhere
      • From the sick person
      • From the person that brings them (family/friends)
      • Sick person’s boss – Centurion… nothing about servants faith
      • Or from person praying for the sick

But what do we mean by this word faith

  • Do we mean emotionalism – Oh I really feel it and want it
    • So I have faith
  • Or do we mean a Keanu Reeves distortion of reality faith
    • We say there is no spoon
    • And bullets that hit us no longer have effect
    • So I believe the impossible to be possible (Is this faith)

By faith we believe God can heal – But its more than that

  • We believe that God can heal and HE WANTS TO
    • So usually as general rule his desire is to heal – Believe that
      • Faith is when we step out and pray that in Jesus name
      • Aware of the now/not yet of the kingdom
      • Aware of the tension
      • But believer God can/wants to heal – So we step out & pray

Jordan Sang on faith

God’s main goal is to encourage us to trust His love. So it makes perfect sense that he would arrange things so that power flows most easily through those who most fully trust His compassionate generosity in providing it.

  • Awesome way to say: God usually heals thru those who have faith

Miracle working faith believes God is genuinely eager for the goodness of miracles

So maybe faith 4 us – Means we start praying 4 the sick

After service – Missional Group – Men’s/Women’s/Youth

  • No formula again just like we’ve seen before but this is good start

1. Create an environment of faith

  • If you are in a place where people are speaking doubt
    • Go somewhere where they aren’t
    • Jesus actually does this – In the funeral many doubt – Laughing
      • He says all of you out of here
  • And if you don’t have faith – Grab someone who does
    • If you see others with faith – Grab them to add in
    • Kids usually have amazing faith

2. Invite the Holy Spirit to come

  • Because who heals people: You or the Holy Spirit =
    • Holy Spirit – You are not the healer unless a doctor/nurse
    • But we are messengers of Holy Spirits gifts – Fedex guy
    • This is not your gift to give – It’s the Holy Spirits gifts
      • So we pray: Holy Spirit we invite you to heal

3. Ask person and Spirit to reveal ALL that is going on

  • Ask: God is there anything else you want us to know
    • Maybe or maybe not
      • Sometimes its just that someone has arthritis
      • Or this person has a Father wound
    • But ask: Wait, listen, press in to voice of God

4. Pray – And pray specifically

  • General Rule: Generic prayers get generic answers
    • Specific prayers get specific answers
      • So it’s not God help Bob feel better
      • It’s God – Bob’s right elbow is in pain and we lay hands
        • Pray for healing
  • Pray with FAITH – Not God we pray that little Susie is healed
    • But if you don’t heal that’s totally ok
    • Not our will but yours be done
    • And if not then we pray for comfort and let her know it is ok
      • Resurrection is coming
  • There is no faith there – It’s praying with a parachute
    • Believing God wants to heal (SOZO) – And then expect it
    • And if nothing happens – Sure pray for comfort through it
    • Pray for a sound and strong mind

And NEVER STOP praying – God said no so that’s that…

  • A lot of the time in the now or not yet reality we live in
    • People are not healed the 1st time… or 2nd time (Keep praying)
    • If nothing happens – Ask for people to come back again
      • We would love to pray for you again… but don’t quit
  • And I have no idea where you are all at with this stuff
    • For me I believe it – Will walk in it… but its not a strong area
    • Some of the other stuff I feel more at home with (prophecy)
      • But it is something I want to see/seek more of
        • B/C our mission is to continue what Jesus started
        • Ushering in the Kingdom of God here on Earth
    • Where we become a church like is found in Acts
      • People come… Yes to hear the word of God – Fellowship
      • But also for healing and for salvation
        • Because it is all wrapped up together
