Prayer – Colossians 1:9
Sunday, November 30, 2025
Pastor Mike Bailey
Introduction
To live with gratitude is to see our relationships through the lens of God’s character. His love calls us to love others with patience and kindness. His forgiveness invites us to extend grace instead of holding on to wrongs. His voice teaches us to speak with honesty, gentleness, and care. His truth steadies us to walk with integrity. His open ear reminds us to pray—not only for ourselves, but also for those around us. Our interactions with each other will be transformed as we learn how God’s character shapes our desire to live a thankful life.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:1
Notes:
2. We pray because God us.
18 Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love. 19 Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean! Micah 7:18-19
Notes:
3. We pray because God to us.
“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” Jeremiah 33:3
I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. Psalm 85:8
Notes:
4. We pray because of the God shows us.
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:5
“Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” John 17:17
Notes:.
Challenge:
How am I praying to God and why?
It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Isaiah 59:2a
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Growth Challenge:
This week be purposeful in the way you pray to God.
Read Ecclesiastes 5:1-20 in preparation for next week’s message.
