Introduction

To live with gratitude is to see our relationships through the lens of God’s character. His love calls us to love others with patience and kindness. His forgiveness invites us to extend grace instead of holding on to wrongs. His voice teaches us to speak with honesty, gentleness, and care. His truth steadies us to walk with integrity. His open ear reminds us to pray—not only for ourselves, but also for those around us. Our interactions with each other will be transformed as we learn how God’s character shapes our desire to live a thankful life.

Love

1 John 4:19

1. God is . (7-8)

But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15

“For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17

2.God love. (9-10)

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. 1 John 3:1

3. God us to love. (11-16)

³⁷ Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ ³⁸ This is the first and greatest commandment. ³⁹ A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ⁴⁰ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40

4. God’s love our love. (17-21)

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

⁹ Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. ¹⁰ Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Romans 12:9-10

Challenge: Does my love for others reflect God’s love for me?

How will I rekindle my love for God so I can love others better?

It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Isaiah 59:2a

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Growth Challenge: This week pray for opportunities to reflect God’s love to those around you.
